MAN, 31, ABDUCTED TWO-YEAR-OLD CHILD IN DUNDEE PARK
In a recent ruling, a sheriff found that Emmanuel Chukwunedu, aged 31 and previously of Dundee, was responsible for several offenses including the kidnapping of a two-year-old child at Fairmuir Park in October 2024.The child's mother had to physically remove him from her son, who he had taken and was holding against his will.
Earlier, Chukwunedu had also touched a four-year-old girl in Dundee city centre a few weeks prior.
The court determined he was unfit to proceed with a trial due to a mental disorder and ordered that he be kept under care at Murray Royal Hospital in Perth for six months.
The sheriff's findings confirmed that he caused a breach of peace in the first incident and proven abduction in the second.
The court noted that engaging physically with a child unfamiliar with him would likely cause fear or alarm, which he evidently crossed.
Because of his mental health condition, he was not held criminally responsible, and a care order was granted to his ongoing treatment at Murray Royal Hospital.
