EMLYN HAYES SENTENCED IN CHADDESDEN FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND PORNOGRAPHY

In September 2010, a man named Emlyn Hayes, aged 25, was sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty of serious sexual offences involving a young boy and the possession of indecent images of children. The crimes took place in Chaddesden, where Hayes resided on Wilsthorpe Road, and the case drew significant attention from local authorities and the community.

Hayes' victim, who was only seven years old at the time the abuse began, eventually disclosed the ordeal after experiencing emotional distress that led to self-harm. The young boy broke down in front of a friend, which prompted him to seek help and report the abuse to the authorities. This revelation was instrumental in bringing Hayes to justice.

During police interviews, Hayes admitted to searching for and viewing pornographic images of children on his computer. He confessed that viewing these images made him feel excited, a detail that underscored the disturbing nature of his actions. Investigators uncovered a collection of images and videos stored on Hayes' computer, which ranged from the less severe Category One to the most extreme Category Five, indicating a wide spectrum of indecent material.

Prosecutor Keith Raynor revealed that there were a total of 120 indecent images on Hayes' device, with 12 of these having been deliberately deleted prior to his arrest. The court was informed that Hayes had ceased viewing these images approximately a year before he was apprehended by law enforcement officials.

Hayes faced multiple charges, including indecency with a child, indecent assault of a child, rape, and sexual assault. He also admitted to two counts of attempted rape. Furthermore, he pleaded guilty to nine charges related to making indecent photographs of a child and five charges of possessing such images, with these offences spanning from December 2004 to March 2010.

As part of his sentencing, Hayes was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was disqualified from working with children. Additionally, he was subject to a sex offenders' prevention order, which prohibits him from being alone with anyone under the age of 16. These measures aim to prevent any further harm and ensure community safety in Chaddesden and beyond.
