EDMUND BICKER FROM CHADDESDEN SENTENCED FOR INDECENT IMAGES IN DERBY COURT

In September 2020, a man from Chaddesden named Edmund Bicker faced serious legal consequences after authorities uncovered evidence of his ongoing sexual attraction to children.

The case came to light when police officers conducted a search of Bicker's residence on Wood Road, following suspicions that his Wi-Fi setup might be connected to devices in violation of a sexual harm prevention order.

During the search, officers discovered that Bicker had three mobile phones stored in a recycling bin outside his home.

One of these phones was found to contain a SIM card with indecent images of children, which was a significant breach of the court-mandated restrictions.

The images included content classified under the most severe category, Category A, which involves the most serious and explicit material.

Additionally, there were images from Category B and Category C, indicating a range of indecent material involving minors.

At Derby Crown Court, Recorder Mark Watson addressed the court and the defendant, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.

He stated, "You are 66 years of age; you have a longstanding and enduring sexual attraction to children.

Police officers entered your address because they believed your Wi-Fi setup might have devices connected to the internet in breach of your order.

You had three phones in a recycling bin, one of which contained indecent images of children." The court was informed that Bicker had a history of sexual offending, which added to the seriousness of the current charges.

Prosecutor Luc Chignell explained that Bicker had previously pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order and possessing indecent images of children.

During police interviews, Bicker chose not to comment on the allegations.

Further investigation revealed that among the images recovered, two videos related to Category A, with one depicting a child in pain, and additional images from Categories B and C.

The police also found two videos and five images in total, illustrating the disturbing nature of the material involved.

In court, Bicker admitted to breaching the sexual harm prevention order and possessing indecent images.

The judge, recognizing the severity of his actions and his criminal history, sentenced him to 16 months in prison.

Additionally, Bicker was given an extended license period of 3.5 years, and a sexual harm prevention order was imposed to remain in effect until further notice.

The judge noted that despite some positive engagement, the nature of the offenses warranted a custodial sentence to protect the public and prevent further harm.
