ELLIS SHUFFLEBOTHAM FROM NEW MILLS JAILED FOR DECADES-OLD SEX ABUSE IN DERBYSHIRE

In a significant case that has spanned over four decades, a pensioner from New Mills has been sentenced to prison after admitting to sexually abusing a teenage girl during the 1970s. The individual, identified as Ellis Shufflebotham, aged 68, received a custodial sentence of 27 months following his guilty plea to four separate charges related to the abuse that occurred many years ago.

Shufflebotham, who resides on New Street in New Mills, appeared before Derby Crown Court to face the charges. His sentencing also included a mandatory requirement to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing need for public safety measures.

Detective Chief Inspector Tracy Lewis commented on the case, expressing her appreciation for the victim's courage.
