ELLIOT ARNOLD'S HORRIFIC DIY CASUALTY IN KINGSTON UPON HULL

Elliot Arnold, a resident of Marshall Street in the Newland area of Kingston upon Hull, found himself at the center of a disturbing animal cruelty case that drew significant attention from local authorities and animal welfare organizations.

Born around 1992, Arnold’s reckless attempt to perform a makeshift castration on his pet dog, an XL Bully crossbreed named Frank, resulted in severe suffering for the animal and a complex legal aftermath.

According to reports, Arnold took Frank to a veterinary clinic after attempting to carry out the procedure himself at home.

The veterinarian who examined the dog discovered a distressing scene: an elastic rubber band had been tightly placed around both of Frank’s testicles.

The veterinarian observed that the skin in that area was deteriorating, with parts of it falling away, and an overpowering infected smell emanated from the wound.

The dog was in excruciating pain, and there was a significant risk of developing sepsis, a potentially fatal infection that can occur when bacteria enter the bloodstream.

Fortunately, the veterinary team was able to treat Frank, and the dog survived the ordeal.

During police interviews, Arnold explained that he had tied the elastic bands around Frank’s testicles out of fear that the dog might be taken away from him.

He expressed concern that, with a ban on XL Bully breeds imminent, he wanted to prevent the authorities from confiscating his pet.

Arnold admitted to watching videos on YouTube that demonstrated how to castrate animals, believing that the elastic bands would cause the testicles to eventually fall off naturally.

He later noticed changes in the color of the testicles and disclosed to emergency veterinary staff what he had done.

The case drew the attention of the courts, where the judge considered Arnold’s actions.

The judge noted that there appeared to be an element of financial motivation behind Arnold’s decision, suggesting that he was attempting to save money by performing the procedure himself.

However, the court also acknowledged that this was a one-off incident and did not impose a ban on Arnold owning animals in the future.

In sentencing, Arnold received a 24-week prison sentence suspended for a period, along with a fine of £500 to cover costs.

The court decided not to impose a ban on him keeping animals, reflecting the view that this was an isolated incident rather than a pattern of cruelty.

The case highlights the dangers of amateur animal mutilation and the importance of seeking professional veterinary care for pets, especially in the context of breed-specific legislation and animal welfare laws in Kingston upon Hull.
