EDWARD ROBINSON FROM DONCASTER SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR SICKENING CHILD SEXUAL OFFENSES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Doncaster, a 70-year-old man named Edward Robinson has been convicted and sentenced to a lengthy prison term for a series of heinous sexual crimes committed against young girls. The offences span several decades, with the earliest incidents occurring in the 1970s, and include recent assaults, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior that persisted over many years.
Robinson, who resides in Skellow, a suburb of Doncaster, was found guilty of multiple charges, including six counts of indecent assault against a child under the age of 13, a charge of raping a girl under 16, and additional sexual assault charges involving a girl under 13.
The court proceedings revealed that the most recent of these crimes took place in Doncaster, adding to the distress and outrage felt by the local community.
Detective Constable Richard Dickinson, who led the investigation, described Robinson as a “repulsive individual” and emphasized that he fully deserved to be imprisoned for his “sickening and vile sexual assaults” on three young girls.
DC Dickinson also praised the bravery of the victims, acknowledging their courage in coming forward to report the abuse despite the trauma they endured.
He expressed appreciation for their patience and understanding throughout the lengthy investigation process.
Robinson’s arrest came in May of the same year, following information provided to the Doncaster Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit.
This intelligence prompted a thorough investigation, which ultimately led to his detention.
During police interviews, Robinson initially only admitted to six counts of indecent assault.
However, he was formally charged with all eight offences on May 11, 2017, and was remanded into custody pending trial.
As the case progressed through the judicial system, Robinson eventually admitted to the sexual assault charges during a subsequent court hearing.
Just days before the trial was scheduled to commence, he also confessed to the rape allegations, providing further clarity on his culpability.
On Friday, October 13, Robinson appeared before Sheffield Crown Court, where he was handed a sentence of 14 years in prison.
The sentence reflects the gravity of his crimes and the impact on his young victims, and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safeguarding vulnerable children from such predatory individuals.
