A WOMAN WAS LEFT TERRIFIED AFTER HER EX FOLLOWED HER IN A CAR THROUGH DUNDEE
A woman experienced intense fear after her former partner followed her vehicle through Dundee.She immediately made her way to the city’s police headquarters after realizing that her ex was tailing her.
This incident occurred just days following their breakup.
On November 14 of the previous year, Edward Dunn, residing on Netherton Terrace in Dundee, was observed repeatedly passing his ex’s workplace.
When she and a colleague entered the city, Dunn's vehicle closely trailed behind her, exhibiting reckless driving behavior.
Frightened for their safety, both women drove directly to the police station to report the incident.
Dunn, aged 57, faced Dundee Sheriff Court today before Sheriff Timothy Niven-Smith.
He pleaded guilty to conduct that was threatening or abusive and likely to cause alarm, which involved following his ex while operating his car.
Prosecutor Sarah Wilkinson explained: “He was driving past to attract her attention.
“He persisted by following her onto Glamis Road and subsequently Ancrum Road in Dundee.” She further stated: “Because of Dunn’s persistent and unpredictable driving, both the woman and her companion felt scared for their safety and uncertain about his intentions.” The woman and her colleague drove to the police station, while Dunn headed toward West Marketgait.
During police interviews, the woman appeared “very upset” as she recounted the events, and was so frightened she was unable to drive.
Police officers quickly located Dunn, who was then cautioned and charged.
Dunn’s solicitor, Grant Bruce, told Sheriff Niven-Smith that Dunn's actions were driven by emotional distress following an unanticipated breakup, which he described as happening “out of the blue.”
