EDDIE RANSOME FROM CHATTEMIS, RAMSEY, AND YAXLEY JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND DRUG OFFENSES

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Chatteris, Ramsey, and Yaxley, Eddie Ransome, a 26-year-old man with a troubling criminal history, has been convicted and sentenced for serious offenses involving child exploitation and drug-related activities.

Ransome, who was previously employed as a carpet fitter and is a former student of Ramsey Abbey College, was found guilty of producing highly disturbing indecent images of a child. The court established that between January 2014 and January 2016, over a two-year period, he created 13 photographs classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of child abuse imagery. These heinous acts took place in Ramsey, a town where Ransome’s activities came under investigation.

During the sentencing hearing at Peterborough Magistrates Court, it was revealed that Ransome’s current residence is in Yaxley. The court imposed a series of strict penalties aimed at monitoring and restricting his future conduct. He is now required to register as a sex offender with police authorities at Thorpe Wood for a period of five years and must sign the sex offenders register, ensuring ongoing surveillance of his activities.

In addition to the sex offender registration, Ransome was fined £695 and ordered to complete a community order by November 12, 2020. This community order includes mandatory participation in rehabilitation programs and treatment for alcohol dependency, reflecting the court’s concern for his overall rehabilitation and public safety.

Furthermore, Ransome was issued a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) that will remain in effect for five years. This order places numerous restrictions on his use of digital devices and internet access. Among these restrictions, he is prohibited from using any device capable of accessing the internet unless it can retain and display browsing history, which must be made available to police upon request. He is also barred from deleting any files related to internet or browsing history, using software that prevents history from being recorded, or employing false IP addresses, aliases, or private browsing modes.

Additionally, Ransome is forbidden from possessing devices capable of storing digital images unless they are available for police inspection. He is also prohibited from purchasing, using, or downloading software designed to erase evidence or encrypt files, further emphasizing the court’s intent to prevent any attempt at digital concealment of illegal activities.

Community members and advocacy groups have expressed their outrage over the case, emphasizing the manipulative nature of Ransome, who reportedly has been telling acquaintances he is innocent because he has not been reported in the media. A woman close to the case stated, “This man is highly manipulative and has been telling people he must be innocent as he hasn’t been reported on in the newspapers. I want people to know who he really is and what he is really like. A lot of people won’t believe it unless they see it in the media, written about from an official document from the court. This is Eddie. This is the real Eddie.”

Authorities and community leaders hope that the legal actions taken will serve as a warning to others and ensure that Ransome remains under strict supervision to prevent any further harm to the community.
