KENT MAN WITH VIOLENT PAST JAILED FOR ASSAULTS DESPITE COURT ORDER
A violent and "appalling" man has been sentenced to imprisonment after assaulting a woman twice in Gravesend while under a court order designed to prevent such offences.Eddie Ives, who had been subjected to a Violent Offender Order following his manslaughter conviction in 2013, went on to offend again after his release from prison, targeting the same vulnerable woman on two separate occasions.
On October 16, 2024, Ives was at a hotel in Watling Street where he began to argue with a woman he knew.
He then grabbed her hair and, as she attempted to walk away, he did it again.
She managed to reach the car park where Ives violently slammed her head into a parked vehicle, causing a cut to her eyebrow.
Later, on October 24, the victim was assaulted once more at her home.
When she returned from shopping, Ives was waiting on her doorstep, immediately becoming abusive and throwing a glass that struck her face, resulting in cuts to her cheek, lip, and jaw.
Both incidents were reported to Kent Police, who arrested Ives on November 10.
He pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court and was sentenced to two years and three months in prison on May 13, 2025.
An indictment for coercive and controlling behaviour was also ordered to lie on file, and he will be under a restraining order for five years.
Detective Constable Sam Strudwick described Ives as showing no regard for court orders and highlighted the victim's bravery in coming forward.
The court's actions aim to ensure he remains behind bars and cannot harm the victim again.
