DUNDEE OFFENDER CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AS COURT IMPOSES STRICT SUPERVISION
A Dundee man has been placed under strict supervision after police uncovered child abuse material on his mobile phone during a raid on his home.
Officers seized Dylan Bertie’s device in December 2024 at his former address on Turriff Street, where a subsequent examination revealed multiple illegal files.
The court heard that 18 images were recovered, including two classified at the most serious level, along with a video.
The material predominantly involved young girls aged between six and 14.
The 30-year-old appeared before Dundee Sheriff Court, where he had already admitted to downloading indecent images of children.
Sheriff Paul Ralph was told that Bertie has a history of offending, with previous convictions including assault to injury and breach of the peace.
The court also heard he is currently being treated for ADHD, anxiety and depression, and has been assessed by social workers as unsuitable for unpaid work.
Instead of a custodial sentence, the sheriff imposed an 18-month supervision order, alongside strict conditions limiting Bertie’s access to electronic devices, the internet, and any contact with children.
He has also been placed on the sex offenders register for 18 months.
The case highlights ongoing concerns around repeat offenders and access to illegal material, with monitoring now in place to restrict Bertie’s behaviour moving forward.
