SEX OFFENDER DONALD ROSS FROM AVIEMORE CAPTURED AFTER ESCAPING POLICE IN WESTER ROSS

In a significant development in a long-standing criminal case, Donald Ross, a man previously convicted of serious sexual offenses, has been apprehended after a period of evading law enforcement authorities. Ross, who is now residing in Aviemore, was at the center of a high-profile investigation that spanned several years and involved multiple locations across the Scottish Highlands.

Ross, aged 38, was initially convicted in May 2007 for heinous crimes involving two schoolboys. During the incident, he enticed the young victims with alcohol and subjected them to a disturbing game of 'strip roulette' before committing sexual abuse. His sentencing included a two-year prison term, which was to run concurrently with an additional two-year extension and a supervision order that mandated his reporting to police until 2011.

Following his release from prison on May 13 of this year, Ross was required to adhere to strict conditions, including regular reporting to authorities. He had moved to Fort William, a town in the Scottish Highlands, and was under police supervision as part of his post-release obligations. Despite these measures, Ross disappeared on July 9, prompting a nationwide manhunt.

Law enforcement agencies, specifically the Northern Constabulary, issued an urgent appeal to locate Ross, who was last known to have committed his crimes at his Disc Golf centre in Ullapool, Wester Ross, in October 2002. The police confirmed that Ross was captured yesterday and was found in close proximity to his former residence in Wester Ross. He was taken into custody and is now back in police detention.

It was also revealed that during his time on the run, Ross had been given a lift by officers from Strathclyde Police, raising questions about the circumstances of his escape and subsequent recapture.
