SEX OFFENDER DOMINIC O'FLANAGAN JAILED FOR DELETING CHILD ABUSE FILES
A sex offender caught trying to delete files from his computer during a police visit was found with sick pictures of children.Police called on Dominic O'Flanagan on June 7, 2022, to check if he was complying with his sentence after being convicted of crimes including possessing child abuse material.
When officers arrived at his home, O'Flanagan was found with a system deleting files, and his computer and hard drives were seized.
Upon closer inspection, officers discovered he was in possession of a prohibited image of a child.
He was sentenced at Teesside Crown Court on August 12 to spend the next eight months in prison and was also made subject to a seven-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).
Detective Constable Barnes from Cleveland Police stated, “O’Flanagan is a repeat offender who has failed to comply with his registered sex offender notification requirements and has breached his SHPO a number of times.
He tried to hide his offending by deleting files from his computer but our officers were able to catch him in the act.
I’m pleased that O’Flanagan was given a custodial sentence so he is unable to continue his disgusting crimes.
I’d like to thank everyone involved in bringing O’Flanagan to justice.
We will continue to pursue those accessing such material and protect the vulnerable from harm.”
