DUNDEE DENTIST SUSPENDED FOR SHARING EXPLICIT PHOTOS ON SWINGERS WEBSITE
A dentist found guilty of unlawfully sharing explicit photographs of a woman on a swinger website has been temporarily banned from practicing.Dominic Fletcher uploaded images of himself in personal, intimate moments with an ex-partner onto FabSwingers, an adult-only platform aimed at casual sexual encounters.
These images, which were initially taken with consent, were posted without the woman's permission to make his profile more appealing to others.
Last year, Fletcher was convicted at Dundee Sheriff Court of revealing private photos and was sentenced to perform 180 hours of unpaid community service.
His case was then referred to the General Dental Council's (GDC) professional conduct panel, which has now suspended him from working for three months.
The GDC stated, “The committee is satisfied that your conduct has brought disrepute to the profession.” Fletcher expressed remorse for his actions and acknowledged the potential harm caused to his victim and the dental community.
During the hearing, it was revealed that another dentist had considered offering Fletcher employment in early 2024 after observing his remorse.
The incident was uncovered when a friend of the woman accessed Fletcher’s account and discovered the images.
He deleted the photos immediately after his victim reported him to the authorities.
Fletcher stated he attempted to hide the woman’s identity by editing her eyes in the photos and did not intend for her to be recognized.
Following his conviction, Fletcher was ordered to pay his victim £500 in compensation.
An alumnus of Dundee University, where he earned his dental degree in 2020, Fletcher failed to have his conviction overturned at the Sheriff Appeal Court in Edinburgh earlier this year.
