DOMESTIC ABUSER JAILED FOR METAL BAR ATTACK
A man accused of domestic violence has been sentenced to prison for assaulting a male housemate with a metal bar, an attack that also alarmed the pregnant wife of the victim.Dinesh Jaswal, aged 31, was given a three-year term at Isleworth Crown Court after being convicted of grievous bodily harm (GBH).
While he was also charged with attempted GBH against the pregnant wife of his 28-year-old victim, a jury acquitted him of this charge.
The three individuals shared a residence on Little Road, Hayes, where the incident occurred around 10pm on September 24 last year.
The victim told authorities he was watching a film and preparing for bed when he heard what sounded like a wall being struck.
According to police, Jaswal then confronted him wielding a metal weight-lifting bar and struck him across the head multiple times, resulting in serious cuts that required stitches.
Emergency services were called by the London Ambulance Service.
When officers arrived, they found the injured man blood-stained and barricaded inside a bedroom with his pregnant wife, both frightened for their safety.
Jaswal was detained at the scene and charged the following day.
Detective Inspector Steve O’Connor of Hillingdon Police emphasised the force’s commitment, stating, “Hillingdon Police are dedicated to protecting all victims of domestic abuse.
We will ensure that any abusers are brought to justice, regardless of who they are.
Domestic violence in any form is taken very seriously, and it’s crucial that victims know police will act to support them.”
