DEWI CRIMP'S SHOCKING SEX OFFENSE IN HEMSWELL CLIFF: JUDGE WARNS OF SERIOUS HARM

In November 2016, a disturbing case unfolded involving Dewi Crimp, a 20-year-old resident of Buchanan Road, Hemswell Cliff, who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a young schoolboy. The incident drew significant attention from local authorities and the judiciary, highlighting the serious nature of the offense and its impact on the victim.

Crimp was apprehended after the victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, reported feeling frightened and disturbed by Crimp’s inappropriate behavior. The young boy stated that Crimp had been ‘poking him’ and had made him feel ‘scared,’ prompting the victim to seek help and report the incident to the police. During the investigation, Crimp was contacted via text message, in which he admitted to the wrongdoing, saying, “I know it was wrong, I shouldn’t have done it, I’ll never do it again.” The message also included a plea to avoid involving the authorities, stating, “No need to go to the police.”

Specially trained police officers conducted a video interview with the victim, who provided a detailed account of the incident. In his victim impact statement, the young boy expressed feelings of ongoing fear, revealing that he now struggles with sleep and feels constantly anxious since the assault. His mother also shared her emotional response, describing herself as ‘sad and angry’ about what had happened to her son.

During police questioning, Crimp admitted that he had touched the boy for no more than five seconds, claiming it was out of curiosity rather than malicious intent. He was formally charged and pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual assault on April 7 of the same year.

At Lincoln Crown Court, Judge John Pini QC delivered the sentence, which included a 12-month youth detention order, suspended for two years. Additionally, Crimp was ordered to undergo 20 days of rehabilitation and to adhere to an electronically monitored curfew. As part of his sentence, he is also required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years. The judge emphasized the gravity of the offense, warning Crimp that he had narrowly avoided custody, stating, “You have escaped custody by the skin of your teeth.”

Judge Pini further highlighted the potential harm caused by such conduct, remarking, “Conduct such as this on a young boy can cause a lot of harm.” To protect the victim and prevent further incidents, a restraining order was issued, prohibiting Crimp from entering the street where the boy resides for the next five years. The case underscores the importance of safeguarding vulnerable individuals and the serious consequences faced by offenders in such cases.
