DEREK ROGERSON BAMBOR BRIDGE SEX OFFENDER BREACHES ORDER AND TRIES TO CONTACT 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL

A 78-year-old man from Bamber Bridge, Derek Rogerson, has been handed a nine-month prison sentence that has been suspended, following his violation of a sexual offences prevention order. The breach occurred when Rogerson attempted to establish contact with a girl he believed to be just 15 years old through online communication.

Rogerson, who had previously been subject to a court-imposed order that strictly forbade any form of contact with minors, claimed that his actions were the result of being misled by a fake Facebook profile. Despite his assertion, the court found sufficient evidence to hold him accountable for breaching the terms of his order.

In addition to the suspended prison sentence, the court mandated that Rogerson undergo sex offender treatment and remain under supervision. This measure aims to monitor his behavior and prevent any future violations, emphasizing the seriousness with which such breaches are treated by the judicial system.
