MAN JAILED FOR NUMEROUS NON-RECENT CHILD SEX
An 81-year-old man received a 12-year prison sentence yesterday (Wednesday 22 April) after being convicted of multiple indecent assaults against teenage boys over a span of thirty years.Derek Feast, residing in the Isle of Mull, Scotland, was sentenced at St Albans Crown Court following his conviction on charges related to four victims in Hertfordshire and Norfolk, covering offences from 1974 to 1991.
Investigators from Hertfordshire located and interviewed Feast in July 2024.
During the interviews, he denied any sexual contact with three of the victims and claimed that he had a consensual sexual relationship with one of them.
On 17 February 2026, Feast was found guilty of 17 counts of indecent assault and gross indecency against four victims at St Albans Crown Court.
He was remanded into custody pending sentencing.
The judge imposed a 12-year jail term, requiring Feast to serve at least half of it before he could be considered for release on license.
Additionally, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
The court proceedings revealed that Feast’s victims included three boys he targeted while volunteering with the Hertfordshire Scouts, during the 1970s and early 1980s, when he also worked as a police officer.
The fourth victim was assaulted in 1991 while Feast was working in a Norfolk newsagent’s shop.
One of the victims, aged 12 or 13 at the time, described being sexually abused during Scout trips, meetings, and at Feast’s home in Stevenage.
A second victim, aged 14, was assaulted as well, and a third, aged 15, was victimised on a trip; the abuse persisted over several years.
The fourth victim was 14 when Feast assaulted him in Norfolk, when Feast was 46 years old.
He reported the incident to authorities shortly after and Feast was arrested; however, no further action was taken at that time in July 1991.
