DEMPSEY NIBBS'S HORRIFIC MURDER IN LONDON: MAN BEHEADS PARTNER AND FLUSHES HER HEAD DOWN THE TOILET
In a chilling and brutal case that has shocked the London community, 69-year-old Dempsey Nibbs stands accused of a horrific act of violence against his long-term partner, Judith Nibbs, aged 60. The incident took place in their shared residence in Hoxton, London, in April 2014, and has since become a subject of intense legal scrutiny and public horror.According to court proceedings at the Old Bailey, Nibbs described his actions as driven by 'pure hatred.' He claimed that he beheaded Judith because he believed she was a snake, a statement that has raised questions about his mental state. Prosecutor Crispin Aylett QC provided detailed accounts of the events, revealing that after an intense attack, Nibbs used a kitchen knife to decapitate his partner. The court heard that following the decapitation, Nibbs proceeded to break her head into smaller pieces using a mallet and a metal bar. In a disturbing act of disposal, he then flushed the severed parts down the toilet, attempting to conceal the crime.
Further evidence presented in court indicated that Nibbs had written a suicide note addressed to his son, which he left at the scene. He also contacted the police himself, warning them about 'a couple of dead bodies' at his residence. When law enforcement officers arrived at the property, they found Nibbs in the bathroom, armed with a shotgun and a kitchen knife. In a further act of self-harm, he used the knife to stab himself and was subsequently hospitalized with multiple stab wounds.
Despite admitting to the killing, Nibbs maintained that he acted in self-defense, insisting that his perception of Judith as a snake justified his actions. The court was informed that there were no apparent signs of mental illness that could explain his behavior, raising questions about his mental stability at the time of the crime. Judith Nibbs was described by friends and family as a cheerful and caring woman, who had three daughters from a previous marriage, as well as a son and a daughter with Nibbs himself.
The case remains ongoing, with Nibbs denying the charges of murder and obstructing justice related to the disposal of her head. The community and legal authorities continue to follow the proceedings closely, as the full extent of the tragedy unfolds in the courtroom.
