CAMBERWELL SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR REPEAT ATTACKS AND FILMING VICTIMS
A serial sex attacker has been jailed for 16 years after raping a woman and sexually assaulting another while filming it.Delando Smith, 31, was convicted for three counts of rape, one count of sexual assault by penetration, and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.
He was initially caught after the first woman reported and identified his vehicle, a white Nissan Qashqai, leading to his arrest in November 2015.
Smith committed the second attack while out on bail for the first offence, occurring on January 29 on Clapham High Street, where he took a 21-year-old woman to a car park and sexually assaulted her.
During police investigation, videos of the attacks were found on his phone.
He was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court to 19 years’ imprisonment with a six-year extension on licence.
Smith had previously been convicted in August 2016 of similar offences.
Detective constable Ellen Jones described Smith as a "predatory male" targeting vulnerable women, and praised victims for their courage.
The court proceedings included reporting restrictions before the trial concluded, and Smith faced sentencing after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences.
