HUSBAND JAILED FOR POINTING GUN AT WIFE DURING DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE
A man was sentenced to prison after he confessed to having a firearm with the intention to frighten someone during a domestic dispute involving his wife.Dean Prosser, aged 48 and from St Sannan Road, Pontllanfraith, pleaded guilty to the charge, which took place on February 16, as heard in Cardiff Crown Court.
During an earlier hearing, prosecutor Tony Trigg identified the weapon as an air rifle.
Prosser’s lawyer, Steven Donoghue, explained in court that his client admitted the offence because the gun was not loaded—its pellets were stored separately—and that he only pointed the rifle at the victim for a few seconds.
He also mentioned that although Prosser has previous convictions, they are very old and not related to this recent incident that happened in Pontllanfraith.
Judge Daniel Williams sentenced him to 10 months in prison and ordered him to pay a £149 victim surcharge once he is released.
