BRADFORD OFFENDER SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ATTACK
David Ziga, aged 37, was convicted for an attack in which he forcibly entered his ex-partner's home in Bradford and inflicted severe injuries. Police report that he had been arrested in Peterborough last August with blood from his ex-partner on his hands. Ziga was sentenced to seven years in prison after admitting to causing grievous bodily harm with intent at Woolwich Crown Court on February 14, 2025. A detective described Ziga as 'incredibly dangerous,' and his victim sustained 'life-changing injuries' following the attack. The assault involved Ziga breaking a glass to use as a weapon and slashing the woman’s ankles, which severed nerves and tendons and caused significant blood loss. It was revealed that Ziga had threatened to leave his ex-partner 'in a wheelchair' because she had previously 'put him in prison.' Furthermore, Ziga had been remanded in custody for seven months prior to the attack, following allegations of domestic abuse, but was released after charges were dropped. Police stated that prior to the attack, he had let himself into her flat, dragged her from her bedroom, and repeatedly punched her. The incident was initiated when the woman called emergency services, claiming masked men had attacked her—a claim later identified as a 'ploy' to cover the true nature of the assault. The police praised her quick thinking for deceiving the attacker to facilitate her escape and call for help.
