DAVID TRAINER'S SHOCKING CHILD ABUSE REVELATIONS IN LAMBETH AND BRIXTON

In a disturbing series of revelations, David Trainer, a man with a dark history rooted in Lambeth and Brixton, has admitted to sexually assaulting four young children over a decade spanning from 1980 to 1990. The 63-year-old, who once contributed his talents to well-known films and children’s television programmes, faced a significant legal turning point when he pleaded guilty to 14 new charges related to these heinous acts at Inner London Crown Court on a recent Wednesday.

These victims, now adults, were between the ages of seven and 13 at the time of the assaults. Their courage in coming forward was prompted by the knowledge of Trainer’s previous conviction in 2011 for sexual offences against young girls. The crimes he admitted to include assaults carried out at his residence on the Loughborough estate in Brixton, where children were sometimes allowed to stay overnight, as well as at the homes of the victims’ parents. Some of the attacks also occurred at a folk music festival, adding a disturbing layer to the case.

London Crown Prosecution Service lawyer Varinder Hayre described Trainer as a man who exploited his position in the entertainment industry and his skills as a photographer to manipulate and abuse children. Hayre emphasized that Trainer’s betrayal of trust inflicted lasting damage on his victims and their families. The guilty pleas, he noted, spared the victims from the ordeal of a trial, and he expressed gratitude for their support in the prosecution process.

Trainer’s sentencing is scheduled for August 11 at Inner London Crown Court, where the full extent of his crimes will be formally addressed.

Back in February 2011, the long wait for justice finally culminated in Trainer’s imprisonment. The Lambeth native, known by the nickname ‘Bungie,’ was convicted after a lengthy investigation into his past offences. He was found guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault on young girls, many of whom he attacked at his flat or at nearby swimming baths in Brixton. The court sentenced him to eight years in prison, a verdict that marked a significant milestone for the victims who endured years of silence.

In addition to his prison term, Trainer was ordered to register as a sex offender for life and was subjected to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO). Detective Constable Kevin Snow from the Lambeth Child Abuse Investigation Command highlighted the importance of the case, stating, “Justice for the victims has been a long time coming. We recognize that the verdict can never restore the lost childhood suffered by the victims but it proves it is never too late to hold an offender accountable for his crimes, it is never too late for justice to be done.”

Snow also acknowledged the bravery of the victims, praising their resilience throughout the investigation and trial. Authorities believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward and have urged anyone with information to contact the Lambeth Child Abuse Investigation Team at 020 7232 6397. The ongoing investigation aims to ensure that all those affected by Trainer’s actions are given the opportunity to seek justice.
