MAN JAILED FOR STALKING HIS FORMER GP
David Taylor, formerly residing on Tarbolton Crescent in Hale, appeared before Chester Crown Court on Thursday, November 6, to be sentenced following his guilty plea to a charge of stalking that caused significant alarm and distress. He received a sentence of nine years in prison and was also issued an indefinite restraining order banning him from contacting the victim and her family.
The court also ordered a Dangerousness Assessment, which classified Taylor as a high-risk individual.
The 56-year-old man stalked his former general practitioner between August 2024 and March of this year.
His inappropriate and aggressive behaviour, which started at the medical practice, led to his being placed on a barred list for the clinic.
Following this, Taylor sought out her business profile online and sent her messages.
When she blocked him, he attempted to contact her from another account, requesting their medical records be transferred to his new GP.
As she became increasingly fearful, she continued to block his attempts.
Despite this, he persisted in messaging her and, after being blocked once more, began leaving inappropriate comments on her professional Facebook page.
The situation worsened dramatically on March 26, 2025, when she returned home from work and received an alert from her Ring doorbell indicating someone was at her front door.
When she opened it, she found Taylor standing there, claiming he wanted to speak with her.
Shocked, she shut the door, called her husband, and dialed 999.
She was unsure how he discovered her address but was left terrified for her safety and her family's after he knew where she lived.
The following day, Taylor was arrested at his residence.
Investigators from Cheshire's Harm Reduction Unit an integrated stalking risk management service began examining his digital devices, discovering evidence of multiple visits to her home in Knutsford recorded on his phone.
CCTV and ANPR footage indicated he had followed her on numerous occasions, from her workplace to her home.
His device also contained images of the victim and her children, as well as searches related to her child's primary school, revealing the extent of his invasive behaviour.
