DAVID POWELL SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN HAYES AND RINGWOOD
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Hayes and Ringwood, a 54-year-old man named David Powell has been sentenced to 30 months in prison following his conviction for the sexual assault of a young boy.The incident, which occurred in 2004, took place in the Hayes area of west London, where both Powell and the victim were residing at the time.
David Powell, whose address is listed as Ringwood Road, St Ives, Ringwood, Hampshire, was found guilty of the offence at Isleworth Crown Court on September 6.
The court proceedings revealed that Powell, a self-employed individual, had engaged in inappropriate conduct towards the 12-year-old boy.
As a result of his conviction, Powell has been prohibited from working with children and has been placed on the sex offenders register, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offences.
The victim, who reported the incident to his mother last August, recounted that Powell had touched him once.
The boy also stated that Powell ceased his actions when he expressed his discomfort and told him he did not like what was happening.

Detective Constable Ros Potter of the Metropolitan Police expressed her satisfaction with the outcome of the case.
She stated, “I am pleased with today’s result which shows that this type of allegation is taken seriously and will be investigated fully.” She also issued a warning to potential victims and their families, saying, “It is possible that David Powell has assaulted other children, and I would urge any parents of victims to contact police.
I can reassure you that specially trained officers will deal with any allegations sensitively.” The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to address and combat child abuse, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and prompt reporting by victims and witnesses alike.
