DAVID PEMBERTON FROM BLACKPOOL AND MARTON JAILED FOR HORRIFIC CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Blackpool and Marton, David Pemberton, a 39-year-old man with no employment at the time, has been sentenced to prison for possessing a vast collection of indecent images of children. The investigation revealed that Pemberton had stored more than 1,500 such images and videos on his family’s computer, which was located at his residence on Darley Road in Marton. These images were described by the presiding judge, Judge Robert Brown of Preston Crown Court, as both revolting and degrading. The material included photographs and films depicting children as young as 18 months old, highlighting the severity and depravity of the case. Some of the images were classified at the highest level of depravity by police investigators, specifically level five, indicating their extreme and sickening nature.
Following his arrest in June of the previous year, Pemberton pleaded guilty to nine out of twelve charges related to the possession of indecent images of children. The court was informed that the images found on his computer and discs were of a highly disturbing nature, involving the abuse of minors who had not yet reached puberty.
During the sentencing, Judge Brown expressed his horror upon reviewing some of the material stored on Pemberton’s hard drive. He stated, “I’ve looked at some of the material found on your computer’s hard drive. It is sick, revolting, and degrading, and concerns adult men abusing children, some of whom have not yet reached puberty. Some of the images are so serious that only a custodial sentence will suffice.”
Authorities conducted a raid on Pemberton’s home on June 14 of the previous year, seizing his computer for analysis. The police discovered hundreds of images stored on the hard drive, along with additional images on discs associated with the computer. Judge Brown emphasized that whether or not Pemberton had deleted any images was irrelevant, as the possession of such material was itself a grave offense.
Detective Sergeant Daryl Turner of Blackpool CID, who led the investigation, commented on the case, saying, “The judge summed up correctly in his sentencing the images which were both vile and depraved. A degree of sympathy has to go to his family who will undoubtedly suffer personally. We do deal with quite a few of these cases, but some of the images here were some of the worst I’ve seen.”
As part of his sentence, Pemberton was ordered to serve a minimum of 18 months in prison. Upon release, he will be subject to a three-year period of supervision on license and will remain on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life. Additionally, he is prohibited from having any contact with children under the age of 17 and is barred from seeking employment that involves working with minors, in an effort to prevent further harm and protect potential victims.
