DAVID PAGE FROM WESTON-SUPER-MARE JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND BESTIALITY PHOTOS

In June 2013, a disturbing case emerged involving David Page, a resident of Weston-super-Mare, who was found to possess an alarming collection of illegal images and videos depicting child abuse and extreme pornography. The investigation was initially triggered when Trading Standards officers conducted a routine inquiry into Page’s illegal sales of tobacco and alcohol. During their search, they uncovered a staggering total of 10,450 photographs of child abuse on his computer, along with 21 videos that depicted young boys in sexually explicit scenarios. Additionally, authorities discovered two images involving bestiality, further highlighting the severity of the material stored on his device.

David Page, aged 46 and residing on Woodpecker Drive in Weston-super-Mare, faced serious charges in Bristol Crown Court. He pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing extreme pornography, which included the explicit images and videos of children, as well as possessing and creating indecent images of minors. The court was told that the extent of his collection was extensive, and the nature of the content was deeply disturbing.

Judge Julian Lambert addressed the court and emphasized the gravity of Page’s actions, stating that such offenses deprive children of their innocence and childhood. The judge sentenced Page to 11 months in prison, underscoring the damaging impact of his crimes. He remarked, “The seriousness is that you have indirectly encouraged the abuse of children. The quantity is too large for treatment as opposed to prison. Very great damage has been done to a significant number of children by their posing to produce these sexualized images.”

Furthermore, the court imposed a ten-year sexual offences prevention order on Page, which prohibits him from engaging in unchecked internet use. He was also ordered to sign the sex offender register for a decade, and his computer equipment was confiscated and forfeited as part of the proceedings.

Prosecutor Robert Reid noted that during police interviews, Page largely remained silent, offering a “no comment” response to questions. Defense lawyer Nadeem Aullybocus highlighted that Page had been a law-abiding citizen for most of his life, working consistently and facing personal health issues. Aullybocus explained that after experiencing months of stress at work, which led to his unemployment, Page’s internet activity increased significantly.

He also detailed Page’s medical conditions, including hearing loss, tinnitus, type two diabetes, hypertension, and the use of a breathing device at night. The court was informed that Page had found employment at a fishing shop in Weston-super-Mare, demonstrating some level of rehabilitation.

In his defense, Aullybocus expressed remorse on behalf of his client, stating, “He deeply regrets his actions. He started with normal pornography and he does not understand how he progressed. It became a culture of clicking and saving. Most were at level one (the lowest abuse category) and he pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.”

Overall, the case highlights the serious nature of possessing and distributing child abuse images, and the legal system’s response to such offenses, especially when they involve extensive collections and additional disturbing material such as bestiality images.
