CARDIFF TEACHER DENIES CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN COURT
A teacher at a secondary school in Cardiff has denied committing sexual offences against a child.He has been suspended from his job pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
David O'Rourke, 43, a teacher at Whitchurch High School, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday where he entered not guilty pleas to charges including four counts of sexual activity with a child.
The defendant also denies three counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act.
The trial date has been set for November 16, 2026, with an estimated duration of five to six days.
Judge Rhys Rowland remanded O'Rourke on conditional bail until his next court hearing.
Conditions include that he is not to have any unsupervised contact with anyone under 18 on social media or in person, and he is to produce any social media content to officers upon request.
He is also prohibited from deleting social media content.
A spokesperson for Cardiff council confirmed that the individual remains suspended from teaching pending the legal process.
