FORMER POLICE OFFICER GUILTY OF HISTORIC CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A former police officer from the Isle of Wight has been convicted of historic child sex offenses that occurred as far back as 1988.
The trial of David Nutton, who now resides in St Stephen, St Austell, Cornwall, took place at Portsmouth Crown Court.
At 60 years old, Nutton previously denied seven charges of indecent assault on a male under 14 years of age.
The allegations cover a timeframe from December 15, 1988, to December 31, 2001.
Following a jury trial, Nutton was found guilty on all seven counts.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 7, 2026, at Portsmouth Crown Court.
In 2004, while employed as a Ryde police constable, Nutton received an 18-month prison sentence for indecently assaulting a boy.
He also confessed to using police criminal systems and the National Computer to inform a paedophile acquaintance about ongoing child sex abuse investigations.
