BEITH MAN DAVID MCMULLAN BUSTED WITH CHILD SEXUAL IMAGES AND BREACHES COURT ORDERS IN KILMARNOCK

In a series of disturbing incidents, David McMullan, a resident of Beith, has found himself at the center of serious criminal proceedings related to child exploitation and violations of court-imposed restrictions. The sequence of events highlights a troubling pattern of behavior that has led to multiple convictions and ongoing legal consequences.

In April 2017, McMullan appeared before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court to face charges of breaching a sexual offences prevention order. The court had previously issued this order in the previous year, imposing strict limitations on his use of computers and the internet, aimed at preventing further offending. Despite these restrictions, McMullan was found to have violated the terms, prompting the court to sentence him to 14 months in prison. During the hearing, it was emphasized that he was required to notify police within 48 hours of any contact with females of any age, a condition he evidently failed to adhere to.

The origins of McMullan’s criminal record trace back to March 2015, when he was convicted of possessing indecent images of children. He appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court and pleaded guilty to the charges, resulting in a 15-month prison sentence. The court was informed that in 2012, McMullan was living in Beith, and he sold a computer to a family member. Unbeknownst to the buyer, the device contained illicit images of child sexual abuse. The family member, upon discovering these images, contacted the police, leading to McMullan’s arrest. He admitted to the possession of such images, further cementing his criminal record.

Further back in September 2014, McMullan, then aged 49, was caught with indecent images of children. He faced additional charges related to downloading inappropriate movie files at residences in Stevenston and Kilbirnie between January 2009 and December 2011. During this period, he was accused of accessing and downloading material that depicted child abuse. His case was adjourned, and he was released on bail pending sentencing scheduled for later that month. The series of incidents underscores a pattern of offending behavior linked to child exploitation, with authorities continuing to monitor and pursue justice in his case.
