DAVID LYNE FROM GORDON AND SUTTON BUSTED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN KENT

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Gordon and Sutton, David Lyne, a man with a background in writing books about Hitler and World War II, has been officially placed on the sex offenders register following his involvement in the possession and creation of indecent images of children. The incident came to light after Lyne-Gordon’s suspicious activity was detected through his use of a work computer, which raised alarms about his engagement with illegal and highly disturbing material.

Lyne-Gordon, aged 57, who also held employment with Eurotunnel, was brought before Canterbury Crown Court on Wednesday, October 27. During the hearing, he was sentenced to a three-year community order, which includes mandatory participation in a sex offender treatment program. Additionally, he was issued a Sexual Offenders Prevention Order (SOPO) that will remain in effect for five years. The court records reveal that Lyne-Gordon pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of indecent images and nine counts of making indecent images of children, highlighting the severity of his actions.

Throughout the proceedings, the court was informed that Lyne-Gordon did not openly admit responsibility for downloading the child abuse imagery. Instead, he reportedly lacked the “courage” to acknowledge his actions or even his sexual interest in children, according to the judge. Judge John O’Mahony addressed the court, stating, “This is a tragedy, you are an intelligent man and you had a responsible job. You do have a sexual interest in children and you must be realistic about that.”

Further investigations revealed that Kent Police had received information from Eurotunnel last year, indicating that Lyne-Gordon had been using his work computers for illicit purposes. This prompted a raid on his home and workplace in December, carried out by the Digital Forensics Unit of Kent Police. During the search, authorities discovered more than 100 indecent images of children stored on his devices.

Detective Sergeant David Shipley, a member of Kent Police’s Public Protection Unit, commented on the case, emphasizing the danger posed by Lyne-Gordon’s actions. “Lyne-Gordon downloaded child abuse images both at home and at work, thereby risking the exposure of others to these harmful materials. He attempted to shift blame onto others, despite having the same images on multiple devices. This case demonstrates the lengths to which offenders will go to commit these crimes and then try to evade justice,” he explained. The investigation was notably aided by the swift response of Eurotunnel staff, whose cooperation was instrumental in bringing the case to a successful conclusion.
