DOMESTIC ABUSER BRANDED A 'COWARD AND BULLY' FOR CHILD THREATS
A man involved in domestic abuse has been labeled a "bully and a coward" after threatening his former partner’s children during a frightening period of violence.David Greig, aged 32 and residing in Ceres, narrowly avoided serving time in prison after admitting to a series of domestically aggravated offenses committed from June 2021 to January 2022.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Sheriff John Rafferty condemned Greig, stating, "The charges make it very clear to me that you are a coward and a bully." He detailed how Greig drove his then-girlfriend into a secluded woodland area near St Andrews, threw her over a wall, and fractured her hand, while threatening her with words like “I am going to f***ing kill you.” The sheriff also revealed that Greig returned to her home in January, repeatedly called her, and only left when police intervened.
During this visit, he used intimidating language and threatened retribution against her children.
Sheriff Rafferty considered a social work report suggesting potential for rehabilitation and decided against a custodial sentence, instead imposing a three-year supervision order, a three-year non-harassment order, and 275 hours of unpaid work.
Greig was also to remain under a supervision order for three years.
The court proceedings documented that Greig's assault involved following his partner, refusing to let her leave, and physically seizing her.
The threats made to her children were taken very seriously, emphasizing the impact of his actions.
