EX-MET POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH RAPING TEENAGE GIRL WHILE OFF DUTY
A former Metropolitan Police officer named David Campbell, aged 46, has been formally charged with the rape of a teenage girl.He is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on the upcoming Friday to face charges of one count of rape and misconduct in a public office.
Campbell was a police constable who was off duty when the alleged incident occurred in London back in 2011.
The report was made to the police in December 2022 and concerns a victim who was either 16 or 17 years old at that time.
Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Stancombe from the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Offending (DASO) team emphasized their diligent efforts in bringing this case to court swiftly, and noted that Campbell no longer remains employed by the force.
Scotland Yard issued a statement indicating they would not comment further to avoid prejudicing the ongoing proceedings.
The case has garnered concern due to its serious nature, and authorities have reassured the public that they are handling the matter with the utmost seriousness.
