HESKETH BANK MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON GIRL
A man approached a schoolgirl and her friend at B&M in Central 12 Retail Park in Southport, where he asked them to drink alcohol with him.
The offender, David Bigley, then put his arm around the 15-year-old girl and kissed her on the cheek after they declined his offer and revealed their age.
Detectives identified and charged Bigley with sexual assault on a female and possession of a controlled Class B drug, cannabis.
He appeared in Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Saturday, January 11, where he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.
Additionally, he was placed on the Sexual Offenders Register for seven years.
Detective Inspector Paul McVeigh stated that Bigley's behavior was totally inappropriate and unacceptable, emphasizing that such conduct will not be tolerated.
He also highlighted the importance of victims coming forward and the support available from authorities and support organizations.
