SALE MAN DAVID BIBBY CAUGHT VIEWING CHILD RAPE VIDEOS ON ZOOM IN US INVESTIGATION
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Sale in Greater Manchester, David Bibby, a 53-year-old local businessman, was found to have engaged in the viewing and downloading of highly illegal and disturbing images depicting the sexual abuse of young children.The investigation into Bibby’s activities was initiated by the United States Department of Homeland Security, which uncovered a troubling online pattern involving a paedophile ring operating through a conference call video platform.
Between August and December 2016, Bibby, who was known to have a disturbing sexual interest in children, accessed a file-sharing application called Zoom.
Using the username ‘UKCockBoy,’ he joined a clandestine group where members shared and distributed indecent images and videos of children being sexually abused.
The group was known to have around 25 individuals viewing the content simultaneously, and Bibby actively participated by sending messages such as, “Somebody told me there were good videos on here.” During his online visits, Bibby was recorded as being naked in one instance, while he viewed graphic images of a boy being raped, a toddler being tied up, and subjected to obscene acts.
The investigation revealed that Bibby’s activities were concentrated over a four-month period, during which he logged into the group multiple times, viewing and downloading illegal content.
The images included scenes of anal and oral rape involving children under the age of four, with some videos depicting children aged between four and six, and even older children aged between nine and twelve being sexually assaulted.
Following a lengthy investigation, Bibby was arrested in November 2017.
He later pleaded guilty at Minshull Street Crown Court to charges of viewing and downloading indecent images of children.
Prosecutor Mark Kellet detailed the severity of the material, stating that there were 24 moving images in total, with five classified as Category B and 19 as Category A, indicating the most serious level of illegal content.
The images showed the anal and oral rape of young children, some as young as under four years old.
The investigation, which had begun in October 2015 and concluded in February 2017, focused on Bibby’s activities during the four months of his offending.
An examination of his Toshiba laptop revealed no other offending material beyond what was found during this period.
The US authorities confirmed that the investigation into the Zoom platform was particularly challenging, as it is primarily intended for legitimate video conferencing and file sharing, but has been exploited by paedophile groups to facilitate their crimes.
During the online sessions, Bibby was not only viewing the illegal content but was also actively participating in chat rooms with other offenders.
On one occasion, he was seen to be naked while watching a video of a toddler who was tied up.
On another, he was present in a chat room with 25 other individuals viewing photographs of pre-pubescent males.
The content also included videos of children aged between four and six being raped, as well as older children aged between nine and twelve.
In sentencing, Judge Maurice Greene emphasized the seriousness of Bibby’s actions, despite the defendant’s assertion that he was seeking help for his disturbing interests.
Bibby, who is involved in an electronics engineering company, was handed a three-year community order.
Additionally, he was issued a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to complete 50 days of rehabilitation activities, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the need for ongoing intervention.
