DAVID BAILEY'S SHOCKING REVELATION: RAPE CONVICT LIVING IN HANLEY PARK TENT AND IGNORING POLICE ORDERS

In a troubling turn of events, David Bailey, a man with a dark past, found himself homeless and residing in a tent within Hanley Park, a well-known area in Stoke-on-Trent. His homelessness was not a choice but a consequence of his ongoing struggles following a conviction for rape, which has cast a long shadow over his life.

Bailey, aged 27, appeared in court this week to face charges related to his failure to comply with legal obligations tied to his sex offender status. The court proceedings revealed that Bailey had neglected to inform police of his actual living arrangements, a breach of the strict conditions imposed on him after his 2014 conviction. Despite being required to register his address regularly, Bailey failed to notify authorities that he had been staying at an address on Crown Bank, Hanley, for a period of three months. Additionally, he was three days late in reporting that he was of no fixed abode while he was sleeping rough in Hanley Park.

His failure to adhere to these legal requirements resulted in a sentencing of a three-year community order handed down at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court. Prosecutor Maria Brannan provided details of Bailey’s criminal history, emphasizing that he was convicted of rape in 2014 and was placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely. This status mandated him to regularly update police about his whereabouts.

On February 7, Bailey attended Longton Police Station to register his address as having no fixed abode. He was instructed to return every seven days to update his status. However, he failed to do so on February 14 and only returned on February 17 after police contacted him. During this interaction, Bailey admitted that he had been living in a tent in Hanley Park and had been forced to live outside Birmingham Police Station following a dispute with his mother.

Further complications arose when a photograph of Bailey, published in the local press, led to additional offences. The press coverage included a photograph of Bailey, which prompted a man living in a property to contact the police after recognizing him. The property, a large 12-bedroom house, was where Bailey had been residing with his mother since November. The police responded swiftly, and on April 3, they attended the address and removed Bailey.

Bailey, who was officially recorded as having no fixed address, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders’ register. As part of his community order, he is required to undertake a thinking skills programme and participate in a rehabilitation activity for a total of 40 days.

Judge David Fletcher addressed Bailey directly, acknowledging the difficulties he has faced living on the streets over recent years. The judge emphasized that Bailey was not incapable of taking proactive steps to improve his situation, noting that he knew where to find help. He warned Bailey that missing the deadline to notify police of a change in address, even by a single day, could lead to more severe charges and longer prison sentences. The judge’s words served as a stark reminder of the importance of compliance with legal obligations, especially for someone with Bailey’s criminal history.
