DANGEROUS PERVERT DAVID ANDREWS FROM IVYBRIDGE CAUGHT WITH THOUSANDS OF CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN DEVON AND CORNWALL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, David Andrews, a 65-year-old former special constable associated with Devon and Cornwall Police, was found in possession of an alarming collection of indecent images depicting children. The investigation revealed that Andrews had accumulated over 13,000 vile and exploitative images, including some showing babies being raped, a revelation that has sent ripples of outrage through the local area.

Andrews, who also previously worked for the Royal Mail, was arrested after police uncovered his extensive online activity involving these illegal images. During police interviews, Andrews shockingly claimed that he saw no harm in his actions, despite the fact that such material directly fuels the sexual abuse and exploitation of children. His disturbing admissions included accessing indecent images and even posing online as a 14-year-old girl, further highlighting his predatory behavior.

The case was brought before Plymouth Crown Court, where Andrews appeared for sentencing nearly two and a half years after authorities first received credible information indicating he was downloading and viewing images of children being sexually abused. The delay in proceedings was attributed to various legal and procedural factors, but the gravity of his offenses remained clear.

Prosecutors revealed that Andrews had amassed nearly 4,000 Category A images, the most serious classification, which depicted the rape and torture of young children. These images had been downloaded over a period of almost four years, illustrating a sustained pattern of criminal activity. The evidence also showed that Andrews had used specific search terms that confirmed his intent to find pictures of children being raped, underscoring the premeditated nature of his actions.

During the hearing, Judge Robert Linford emphasized the severity of Andrews' crimes, noting that there was evidence suggesting he had distributed some of these images, a far more serious offense than mere possession. Andrews, who resides on Risdon Drive in Ivybridge, pleaded guilty to possessing 3,974 Category A images, along with thousands of other images classified as Category B and C, spanning from 2014 to 2018. Additionally, he admitted to possessing 30 extreme pornographic images, including the notorious horse picture.

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Linford condemned Andrews’ claims that he believed he was causing no harm, dismissing such assertions as complete nonsense. The judge stated, “If people like you did not view this abuse, then it would not be perpetrated,” highlighting the damaging impact of such material. The judge also rejected Andrews’ claim that he derived no sexual gratification from viewing these images, describing that assertion as “complete nonsense.”

Following the guilty plea, Andrews was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for two years, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits further offenses. He is also required to complete 35 days of intensive probation supervision, sign the Sex Offender Register for ten years, and adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same period. This order grants authorities ongoing monitoring of his internet activity to prevent any future offenses and protect the community from potential harm.
