    In a disturbing sequence of events that unfolded in Gourock, David Anderson, a man with a long and troubled criminal history, committed a brutal assault on two young girls immediately after being released from prison. The incident took place in February 1998, just hours after Anderson had completed a six-month sentence for assault, and it shocked the local community and beyond.

    Anderson, aged 27 at the time, lured the two victims, aged 14 and 15, to his residence by convincing them to help him carry his belongings into his house. Once inside, he swiftly took control of the situation by locking the door behind them, forcing the girls to strip, and then tying them to his bed. The assault was both violent and depraved, with Anderson raping the older girl and forcing the younger girl to perform a sex act with him.
