LINCOLN AND ILKESTON MEN JAILED FOR DECADES-OLD CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
Detectives have praised two men for their courage in helping to secure the imprisonment of two brothers, including one from Lincoln, who sexually abused them during their childhood.According to police, David and Christopher Harwood carried out disturbing abuse at the same location in Nottinghamshire throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
David Harwood, aged 67, faced charges including three counts of indecent assault on a boy, gross indecency with a boy, and inciting a boy to commit gross indecency.
Christopher, aged 59, was charged with indecent assault on a boy.
Both defendants denied all allegations.
After a trial held earlier this year, a jury convicted them on all charges.
On June 27, the court sentenced Christopher to three and a half years in prison, while David received a fifteen-year sentence at Nottingham Crown Court.
Detective Constable Andrea Parker commended the victims for their resilience and emphasized that their decision to come forward was key to securing justice.
She also expressed disappointment that the brothers refused to accept responsibility and denied any wrongdoing, which led victims to relive their experiences during the trial.
Parker concluded by saying, 'We are glad both are now imprisoned for their crimes—especially David Harwood, who will likely spend a significant part of his life behind bars.
We hope this case encourages other survivors of historical sexual abuse to come forward.
It doesn’t matter if it happened yesterday or decades ago; we will always take these reports seriously and pursue justice.'
