DARRYL CLARK FROM LITTLE HORTON JAILED FOR SYSTEMATIC ABUSE AND INTERNET FILMING OF CHILD VICTIMS IN BRADFORD
In July 2011, Darryl Clark, aged 48, was sentenced to six years in prison after a harrowing case that exposed his systematic abuse of two young boys in Bradford. The court heard how Clark, a driving instructor residing on Hawes Crescent in Little Horton, Bradford, engaged in a series of heinous acts that left his victims deeply traumatized.Clark pleaded guilty to a total of 33 criminal charges, which included rape, indecent assault, sexual activity with a minor, and the production of indecent images of children. The severity of his crimes was underscored by the judge, John Potter, who described Clark as “a determined and committed” paedophile. The judge emphasized the sinister nature of Clark’s actions, revealing that he not only abused the boys but also took photographs and videos of the assaults for his own gratification and shared these images over the internet with others who shared his depraved interests.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that one of Clark’s victims was so overwhelmed by fear and shame that he attempted to hide his face during the assault, trying to prevent Clark from seeing him. The court was also told that the second boy’s mother reported her son had become withdrawn and exhibited significant changes in behavior following the abuse. Prosecutor Nicholas Lumley described the emotional toll on the victims, with one boy recounting his sleepless nights and his fear that others might discover what had happened to him. The second victim confided to police that Clark’s abuse was not an isolated incident, stating, “He does this all the time,” when shown images Clark had taken during the assaults.
Adding to the gravity of the case, it was revealed that Clark had not only filmed and photographed his abuse but also distributed the graphic material online, sharing it with like-minded individuals. This element of the case was described as “profoundly aggravating” by the prosecution, highlighting the extent of Clark’s exploitation and the danger he posed to the community.
Clark’s solicitor, Alistair Bateman, expressed remorse for the damage inflicted upon his victims and their families, noting that Clark had committed no other criminal offenses and that his marriage was in disarray. Nonetheless, Judge Potter imposed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order with no time limit and mandated Clark to register as a sex offender.
Following the sentencing, Detective Constable Claire Forder of the West Yorkshire Police Abusive Images Unit commented on the case, stating, “Clark is a particularly worrying individual based on his internet offending but more so because of his direct exploitation of specific victims.” The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by individuals like Clark, who exploit children both offline and online in the most heinous ways.
