DUNDEE MAN JAILED FOR THREATS AND ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR TOWARDS GRANDMOTHER
Darren McMenemy, a man with a significant criminal history including violent offenses, was sentenced to six months in jail for threatening and abusive behavior towards his own grandmother, Doreen Anderson. The court heard that McMenemy repeatedly demanded money from his family, losing his temper when they refused.
He made a phone call to his grandmother where he threatened to 'smash her car and you, you f****** s***.' His lawyer admitted that 'we cannot excuse this sort of conduct against his own family.' The incident involved multiple confrontations, including attending her residence under the influence, asking for money, and making threats over the phone, such as saying 'you will regret that, I'm away to come up and smash your f*****g car and you you f*****g s***.' McMenemy was found guilty of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner between March 26 and March 30 at an address in Dundee.
The sheriff commented that numerous efforts to resolve his issues without prison had failed, leading to the six-month sentence.
