CARPET FITTER DARREN HALL JAILED FOR MURDER OF EX-PARTNER SARAH HENSHAW
Carpet installer Darren Hall has been found guilty of the murder of his former partner and received a minimum prison term of 17 years. The killing took place at her residence in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, during a dispute.
The court heard that Hall, aged 36, who worked as a carpet fitter, attacked the victim during their argument, delivering a blow with enough force to end her life.
He initially claimed she had fallen down the stairs, but evidence indicated that he likely strangled her, supported by previous reports of violence and visible bruises.
After the murder on June 20, Hall disposed of her body in a wooded area near a lay-by on the westbound A617, approximately 20 miles from her home.
He then falsely told friends, family, and authorities that the victim had gone missing before her body was found on June 26.
Hall was arrested on June 23 and charged with her murder five days later.
During sentencing, Mr.
Justice Goss highlighted that the victim was a lively and cheerful individual and stressed that her harm was irreversible.
The judge also noted that Hall attempted to conceal his crime, claiming he had not injured her despite evidence of prior violence and bruising.
In court, Hall expressed remorse for abandoning her body but insisted that her death was unintentional and driven by panic.
The court dismissed his explanation of accidental death, noting that he ignored her screams and exerted enough force to kill.
His actions were characterized as a serious case of domestic homicide, and the court’s sentence ensures he will serve at least 17 years in prison.
