DARREN FLEMING SENTENCED IN KILSYTH FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS

Darren Fleming, a 24-year-old man from Kilsyth, has been handed a five-year prison sentence after being convicted of the heinous crimes of raping two young girls.

The assaults occurred over a span of five years, from 2011 to 2016, when the victims were only eight and nine years old.

These disturbing acts took place at various locations, including the town of Kilsyth, where Fleming was residing during the time of the offenses.

The court proceedings revealed that Fleming was between 15 and 20 years old at the time of the assaults, which adds a layer of complexity and gravity to the case.

The families of the victims expressed their profound outrage and disappointment at the relatively short duration of the sentence, describing it as 'short' given the severity of the crimes committed.

They emphasized that the trauma inflicted on the girls will have lasting effects, stating, 'It has torn our family apart.

As a whole, we will not recover from what has happened but we have to concentrate on taking care of the girls.' Following the sentencing at the High Court in Glasgow, a family member voiced their discontent, remarking, 'The way we see it is that it was two girls and he was sentenced to five years which is two-and-a-half years for each child and that is just not enough.' The court also ordered Fleming to be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.

Despite the conviction, Fleming continues to deny any responsibility for the crimes, maintaining his innocence throughout the proceedings.
