WICK MAN WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RECORD LEAVES FOOTPRINT AFTER ROW WITH PARTNER
A Wick man named Darren Coghill was involved in a domestic disturbance after he shouted and swore at his partner when she refused to let him into their home in Loch Street, Wick, on a Monday. The police responded to the scene and arrested Coghill, who admitted to threatening or abusive behaviour and a record.
The court was informed that the couple had been drinking over the weekend, leading to some "ill-feeling." The prosecutor, Fiscal David Barclay, stated that Coghill (30) left the house but later returned, when his partner refused entry.
Coghill began shouting, swearing, and kicking the door, leaving a footprint on the door which police officers observed.
It was also noted that the woman no longer wanted Coghill to return and wished him to stay away.
Coghill was bailed to an address in Carnmhor, Road, Bonar Bridge, and will face sentencing on December 8 after a background report is reviewed.
The sheriff pointed out that this was Coghill's third conviction for a domestically aggravated offence and suggested he might be suitable for the Caledonian Programme, which addresses domestic abuse.
Additionally, Coghill pleaded not guilty to resisting three police officers who attempted to handcuff him, a charge which the fiscal accepted.
He is currently banned from entering Loch Street or contacting the woman involved.
