POLICE SCOTLAND OFFICER APPEARS IN COURT CHARGED WITH FOUR SEXUAL ASSAULTS
A police officer from Police Scotland has recently appeared in court facing serious allegations of sexual misconduct and abusive behaviour.Trevor James McConnachie, a 29-year-old constable stationed in Wick, located in the Scottish Highlands, was brought before the sheriff court in Wick on a private hearing held on Tuesday.
McConnachie is accused of committing four separate sexual assault offences, which are alleged to have taken place at various times throughout 2023 in the Caithness area.
In addition to these serious allegations, he faces a charge of abusive conduct towards a partner or former partner, suggesting a pattern of troubling behaviour beyond the sexual offences.
The charges against McConnachie stem from a complaint made in September 2023, which prompted an investigation leading to his arrest.
The police officer was formally charged on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, and the case has since been referred to the Procurator Fiscal for further review and prosecution.
During the court appearance, McConnachie did not enter a plea to the charges.
He provided his address as the Professional Standards Department of Police Scotland in Glasgow.
Following the hearing, Sheriff Gary Aitken granted him bail, allowing him to remain free pending further legal proceedings and investigation.
The court has not yet set a date for his next appearance.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed the arrest and charges, stating: “On Wednesday, 8 November, 2023, a 29-year-old officer was arrested and charged with sexual offences following a complaint in September, 2023.
He is due to appear at Wick Sheriff Court on Tuesday, 12 December, 2023.
