DARIUSZ JAKIMOWICZ FROM LUTON CAUGHT ON CAMERA BEATING GERMAN SHEPHERD PUPPY IN BRUTAL ATTACK

Dariusz Jakimowicz, also known as Darek Kuba, born on December 21, 1981, and residing on Havelock Road in Luton LU2, has been convicted of a severe animal cruelty offense involving his German Shepherd puppy, Zeus. The incident, which took place in his home, was captured on multiple videos by neighbors and has sparked widespread condemnation.

Neighbors living near Jakimowicz reported hearing disturbing sounds of whipping emanating from his property on a daily basis. These noises were accompanied by the unmistakable screams of a dog in distress, prompting concern among the local community. One woman, who moved next door and recorded the abuse on her mobile phone, testified in Luton Magistrates’ Court that she distinctly heard a puppy crying and in pain. She explained, “I own a dog myself and I know the difference between playful noises and the sounds of a dog in agony. I would hear Zeus crying out regularly.”

She further described her observations: “I heard a whipping noise and saw a male with a large plastic stick near his property. I watched him approach the dog twice with the stick, hearing the whipping sounds and the dog’s high-pitched cries, which I never want to hear again.”

Another neighbor provided additional evidence through a second video, which showed Zeus cowering in front of a large hole in a garden fence. The footage captured Jakimowicz punching the dog repeatedly. A female neighbor, whose statement was read aloud in court, recounted her experience: “I was in my bedroom when I heard the dog crying. I looked out my window and saw my neighbor with a German Shepherd. He was standing sideways so I could see his face clearly. I saw him holding the dog by the scruff of its neck and hitting it in the body with clenched fists. The man punched Zeus between 10 and 15 times, and the dog responded by crying out without fighting back. We could hear Zeus’s distress almost daily.”

In a statement read to the court, the neighbor described her shock at witnessing the abuse firsthand. The RSPCA inspector Mel Fisher, who examined the case, confirmed the severity of the violence. Fisher stated, “Jakimowicz was punching Zeus so forcefully that he was visibly shaking, and he rubbed his hand afterward because it hurt. Jakimowicz admitted during the interview that he lost his temper and struck the dog. Fortunately, Zeus did not sustain any long-term injuries from this incident.”

Additionally, it was revealed that Jakimowicz used a pinch collar to walk Zeus. This device, described as medieval-looking, pinches the dog’s skin when pulled on the lead, causing unnecessary pain. Such training methods are widely condemned and considered inhumane.

Initially, Jakimowicz denied using excessive force against Zeus. However, once presented with the video evidence, he admitted to causing unnecessary suffering through physical abuse and blunt force trauma. The court sentenced him to a 12-week custodial sentence, suspended for 12 months, along with 100 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £626.80 in costs and charges. Furthermore, Jakimowicz received a five-year ban on keeping animals, which expired in January 2022.

This case highlights the importance of community vigilance and animal welfare enforcement in Luton, where neighbors’ efforts led to the exposure and prosecution of a man responsible for repeated cruelty to his pet.
