2003: MAN JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCE
Danny Fisher, a sex offender, was sentenced to four months in prison at Gloucester Crown Court last Thursday for multiple offenses. The 23-year-old man had exposed himself to a 15-year-old girl as she walked through woods with a friend.
Additionally, he made advances towards a woman care assistant, following her and subsequently propositioning her.
Fisher also admitted to neglecting two 12-month community rehabilitation orders.
Fisher was taken into custody after fleeing from court proceedings scheduled the previous week.
During his appearance, Judge Jamie Tabor QC remarked humorously: "It is nice to see him here at last.
It has been about six weeks since his last appearance.
Perhaps a compass would help him find his way to court." Fisher expressed his anxiety to the court, stating: "Like the last time I was here, I am very scared.
I am willing to comply with any court orders but I do not want to go to prison." The court was informed that Fisher had indecently exposed himself to the schoolgirl in July 2000, and two weeks afterward, he followed and propositioned a care assistant.
Defense lawyer Mr.
Giles Nelson described his client as 'very immature' and explained that a serious breakdown had occurred with the probation service, resulting in Fisher’s failure to fulfill his rehabilitation requirements.
Judge Tabor pointed out that Fisher already had a conviction for indecent assault involving a girl under 14 years of age.
Addressing Fisher directly, the judge said: "It has been made clear that you have ignored the efforts of the probation service to help you." Fisher, of Abbotts Leys, Winchcombe, received a three-month sentence for two breaches of his rehabilitation order and an additional month for failing to respond to bail, bringing his total sentence to four months.
