BRADFORD MAN JAILED OVER FATAL HAMMER ATTACK ON WIFE
Danish Irfan, aged 22, received a life sentence after being convicted at Bradford Crown Court for the murder of his wife, Ridda Zanab.
The killing took place after Irfan found out about her affair, which led him to assault her with a hammer multiple times.
Her body was discovered in a residence on Alford Terrace, Bradford, with at least ten blows to the head.
Court proceedings revealed that Irfan attacked Ridda while she was in bed, having checked a text message in which she expressed love for another man.
After the incident, Irfan fled to Pakistan but voluntarily returned to the UK in February, where he was detained at Manchester airport.
Judge Mr.
Justice Stuart-Smith condemned Irfan's conduct, describing it as a "sustained and brutal assault over several minutes on a woman who was defenseless in her bed." He sentenced Irfan to a minimum of 16 years, as he was convicted of murder, calling the act "terrible and brutal." Authorities and police expressed their sympathies to Ridda Zanab’s family, particularly her young daughter, who will grow up without her mother.
