DANIEL STORER'S UPPINGHAM NIGHTMARE: SEXUAL ASSAULT AND STALKING HORROR IN LEICESTERSHIRE
A man from Uppingham, Daniel Storer, aged 22, has been sentenced to prison after a disturbing series of events that culminated in a sexual assault and stalking of a woman. The incident, which took place in December 2020, was preceded by a meticulously planned campaign of harassment that lasted for approximately ten months. During this period, Storer engaged in a calculated effort to manipulate and deceive his victim through the use of fake social media accounts.According to Leicestershire Police, Storer created multiple fictitious profiles, impersonating various professionals such as police officers, paramedics, and representatives from law firms. His intent was to establish contact with the woman, whom he targeted. These false identities were part of a broader scheme to instill fear and manipulate her into responding to his messages. The messages included attempts to persuade her to send explicit images of herself, which she refused to do.
Storer’s deception escalated when he used these fabricated accounts to lure the woman to his residence in Uppingham. Once she arrived, he committed a sexual assault against her. The victim demonstrated remarkable bravery by recording an audio of the attack, a crucial piece of evidence that she subsequently provided to the police. Her quick thinking and cooperation played a vital role in ensuring that justice was served.
At Leicester Crown Court, Storer pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault. He also admitted to stalking her with the intent to cause fear of violence. The court sentenced him on November 5 to four years in prison. In addition to his prison term, Storer faces a further three-year extended license period upon release. He is also subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and has been placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period. Furthermore, a restraining order has been issued to prevent him from making any contact with the victim.
Detective Constable Ken Huddart expressed admiration for the victim’s courage, stating, “Her instinct to record the attack during what must have been an extremely terrifying ordeal and her cooperation with us since was paramount in helping us to secure this conviction.” He emphasized that Storer’s actions, which involved a significant period of planning, caused considerable distress to the victim. The police investigation highlighted the dangers of online deception and stalking, and the case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and bravery in the face of such threats.
