MALVERN PAEDOPHILE DANIEL SCULLY WHO WAS CONVICTED OF SEXUALLY GROOMING PRIMARY SCHOOL CHILDREN IN 2010 BACK IN COURT FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE
2010: A TEENAGE boy who ‘groomed’ young girls for sexual contact has avoided being locked up.Daniel Scully got to know his victims – some as young as 12 years old – through the instant messaging website MSN, when he was 17 years old.
As a Btec student, Scully, now aged 18, helped out in school PE lessons.
He talked to one 12-year-old through the site and arranged to visit her while she was at the house of another member of her family.
2023: A 31-year-old man who admitted assaulting a former partner is awaiting sentencing.
Daniel Scully, from Chester Place, Malvern, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on September 26.
According to prosecutor Eleanor Peart, on the evening of January 21 this year, Scully struck the victim twice in the face.
Following the assault, Scully picked up a knife and threatened to kill himself.
In his police interview, Scully admitted to the crime but claimed the victim was not supporting the prosecution.
The prosecutor noted that this offence was aggravated by a similar one involving the same victim in 2019, where Scully refused to leave after being asked and forcibly pushed her.
The latest offence was also aggravated by it being in a domestic setting, with the incident occurring in the victim's home in Worcester.
Defence lawyer Jo Outhwaite explained that Scully had a history of losing his temper, describing the strikes as open-palmed to the victim's forehead.
Scully is also diagnosed with PTSD, which has been ongoing for over five years.
After the incident, Scully sought medical help and is now on medication.
The court heard that a restraining order was previously in place but was lifted a year after a request from the victim.
Magistrates decided to defer the sentencing for a probation report and Scully will return to court on October 17 to be sentenced for assault by beating.
He was granted unconditional bail and was warned to cooperate with probation.
