BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL RAPE AFTER PARTY
A man from Bradford has been sentenced to jail for raping a woman after she left a party.According to Leeds Crown Court, Daniel Peter Firth, aged 26, was caught by police still holding his victim after a resident heard her screams.
Philip Standfast, the prosecutor, described how the 21-year-old woman tried to leave a party early on March 18 because she lacked money for a taxi and decided to walk home.
Firth approached her, initially trying to persuade her to return to the party, and after some interaction, he kissed her.
She responded at first but then objected, citing that he had a girlfriend.
Firth then began touching her bottom and thighs, and despite her protests and efforts to push him away, he forcibly removed her clothing, knocked her to the ground, and raped her.
During the assault, she asked him to stop, and he ignored her.
She lost her balance and hit her head during an attempt to escape.
She was crying out for help when he covered her mouth and continued the attack.
He then tore more of her clothes and kicked her glasses away.
A resident heard her shouting 'Don’t do this' and 'I don’t want to do this' and called the police.
Officers arrived to find Firth still on top of her, pinning her down.
He was removed and became aggressive toward police, threatening to rape his officer's wife and kicking the police car.
Firth admitted to rape and damage and was sentenced to seven years and two months in prison.
The judge noted that although Firth was normally hardworking, the woman had repeatedly refused his advances.
